Patrick Sharp photobombs Chicago newlyweds in Blackhawks’ penalty box (Photo)

Puck Daddy - 4 kuukautta ago.

Rob Krolak and Carrie Pike were married last weekend in Chicago, and prepare to be jealous.

Their wedding ceremony was at Revolution Brewing Company, and we can think of a dozen ceremonies we’ve attended that would have benefitted from a beer brewery setting. Then they hired a trolley and took their guests to a “super suite” reception at United Center for the Chicago Blackhawks’ game against Carolina on Friday night.

Before the game, the happy couple took some portrait shots around the arena, including by the glass during warmups. They eventually made their way into the penalty box to capture the bride, the groom and the hockey action behind them.

That’s when... Read more

Dallas Stars GM vs. the reliability of NHL stats

Puck Daddy - 10 tuntia ago. There isn’t much common ground between those at the forefront of the analytics movement and those who bemoan their value, outside of a mutual disrespect. But they’ve always agreed on one aspect of advanced stats in the NHL, which is that the data produced is only going to be as good as the data analyzed. ......

Police arrest Montreal Canadiens meth kingpin

Puck Daddy - 12 tuntia ago. Michel Emond was running from Interpol for two years when police in Costa Rica took him into custody this week. The 36-year-old Quebec native was wanted on drug charges; and, based on his marketing techniques, we imagine there’s also been some violation of National Hockey League trademarks.  From CJAD: Emond is wanted here on charges......

Lou Lamoriello worries not about Devils’ pathetic shootouts

Puck Daddy - 14 tuntia ago. Why did the New Jersey Devils fail to make the playoffs last season?  Many would point to how they catered to a 41-year-old goalie with a .906 even-strength save percentage in 39 starts. And they’d have a point. But the bigger points are the ones the team pissed away in the shootout. The Devils were......

Puck Daddy Power Rankings: The Ovechkin problem, Eric Staal, James Reimer

Puck Daddy - 1 päivä ago. [Author's note: Power rankings are usually three things: Bad, wrong, and boring. You typically know just as well as the authors which teams won what games against who and what it all means, so our moving the Red Wings up four spots or whatever really doesn't tell you anything you didn't know. Who's hot, who's......

So when he purchased the Buffalo Sabres in 2011, fans were excited for a future where big-name free agents could be lured with a nice salary. The plan hasn’t worked out that way just yet, as the franchise is currently in the middle of a rebuild. Meanwhile,......

Former Boston Bruin Jon Rohloff leads another class-action lawsuit against NHL

Puck Daddy - 1 päivä ago. Another day, another class-action lawsuit against the NHL claiming the league took insufficient action to reduce brain injuries caused by concussions. The difference? This third one, as it stands, features just one plaintiff. The man behind it is Jon Rohloff, known to most twenty-something hocey fans as the guy you’d get multiples of in hockey......

Teemu Forever! Selanne will decide on playing in KHL soon

Puck Daddy - 2 päivää ago. Let’s state this right off the hop: Teemu Selanne is done in the NHL. His tear-filled victory tour with the Anaheim Ducks was a satisfying North American farewell for Selanne, even if NHL fans could watch the legendary sniper until the sun explodes.  But the fact remains they still could watch him next season —......

P.K. Subban, Canadiens over $3 million apart in arbitration offers

Puck Daddy - 2 päivää ago. Arbitration is a nasty little process. Teams have to argue why their players aren’t worth what they think they’re worth. Players have to suffer through insulting lowball offers, because that’s how the game is played.  P.K. Subban and the Montreal Canadiens are playing that game now, with the star defenseman’s arbitration hearing looming on Friday.......

Jake Gardiner signs 5-year deal with Maple Leafs, remains trade bait

Puck Daddy - 2 päivää ago. Jake Gardiner gets mentioned more frequently in trade scenarios than conditional draft picks, and that might not end despite his new 5-year deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The restricted free-agent defenseman signed a 5-year, $20.25-million deal that’ll give the Leafs $4.05 million against the cap. So it’s a very cap-friendly deal for a puck-moving......

Dustin Brown vs. the Rangers-loving FedEx delivery guy (Photo)

Puck Daddy - 2 päivää ago. Dustin Brown may have brought the Stanley Cup back to his hometown of Ithaca, New York, for the second time in three seasons this summer, but that doesn’t mean he’s beloved by Empire State residents. Especially not when that second Stanley Cup came at the expense of the Rangers. So naturally, if you’re a FedEx......

NBC exec says Monday Night Football shaped NHL schedule, Rivalry Night

Puck Daddy - 2 päivää ago. NBC Sports released its 2014-15 NHL schedule last week, and the reaction was that annual combination of celebration and befuddlement. The Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks getting on 13 times each? Bravo. The Columbus Blue Jackets getting one game, and John Tavares getting a goose egg? The aforementioned befuddlement … One interesting aspect......

Eric Staal has surgery after off-season training injury

Puck Daddy - 3 päivää ago. Eric Staal has a lot to prove next season.  The Carolina Hurricanes captain already had his news coach, Bill Peters, call him out this summer for an “unacceptable” one goal on the power play in 2013-14. He’s coming off his worst points-per-game season (0.77) since 2003-04. So he’s working hard this summer. He’s been like......
